FANAL CLOUD FOREST
Madeira is full of magical moments. One of these absolutely stunning locations is the Fanal Cloud Forest. An ancient laurel forest located on the north side of the island. The trees are often covered in a mysterious fog that sweeps up from the coast turning the place into a fairytail location. The cows grasing among the trees just add to the phantasy : )

HOW TO GET THERE?
You can park your car at the "Fanal Car Park", which is about an hour drive from Funchal.
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO SEE THE FOG?
The forest is very often (but not always) covered in fog. The best chance to see the fog is early in the morning.
WHAT SHOULD YOU TAKE?
The area is not very big. You can spend 1-2 hours here just walking around taking photos. You don't need any special equipment behalve maybe an extra jacket.
In the area of Fanal Forest you will find several hikes, including the walking route PR13 Vereda do Fanal. This route of about 20 kilometers takes you through the forest in about 4 hours.
BEST TIME OF THE YEAR:
The best time of the year for hiking on madeira is May, June and September, October.
