Most roll-top backpacks turn into a tunnel: everything goes in, nothing can be found. So the Toby — like its brother Alex — also opens from the back: flat on the bed, like a suitcase. Roll the top when you need room for an extra jacket; open the back door when you need your things.
Open it a little and the essentials are right there: your laptop in the padded flap sleeve (fits a 16″ MacBook Pro) and a zip for phone and wallet. Open it fully and you pack it like a little suitcase — packing-cube fans, this is your bag. At 20 litres it slides under the seat on EasyJet and Ryanair as free hand luggage.
Our frequent travellers keep reporting two things: it fits more than you think — the structure keeps everything where it should be — and because the main zipper sits against your back, nothing walks off in a crowded metro.
The Toby is the Alex’s modern twin: fully vegan (no leather details) with a metal buckle our customers keep calling sexy — we just say functional. A closed front pocket with a 3D opening your hand actually fits into, a secret pocket in the bottle compartment, a luggage pass-through for your trolley, padded straps and a chest strap.
About the light stripes in the fabric: that’s not damage — it’s the wax. The fabric (100% recycled PET bottles) has a wax finish that develops a patina, more visible on some colours than others; warm it up and it evens out.

PRODUCTION
Where are the bags made?
We design all our products in our studio in Amsterdam. Our fabrics are custom made by a leading fabric mill in Taiwan. The production is done by two smaller, family run factories in Vietnam. All our factories are certified and we visit them at least once per year.
How long is the warranty?
For all Property Of... items we give life-time warranty on all production mistakes. Wear&Tear is not covered by the warranty.
Are the bags sustainable?
This is actually a very complex question. We put a lot of time & effort in making our bags as sustainable as possible.
Here are some of the things we do to make our collection more sustainable:
- All our fabrics are 100% made from recycled PET
- We give life-time warranty
- We have a great repair service
- We have no over-production
- We have close relationships with our factories
SHIPPING & RETURN
How do we ship?
For deliveries within the EU we use DPD. For shipments outside the EU we use FedEx.
Can I return my order?
Of course you can. Just send us an email to webstore@thepropertyof.com and we will send you a shipping return label.
Returns within the EU are free. Returns from outside the EU we charge a 9€ return fee.
